According to the data provided by Wenzhou customs, the total trade volume between our city and Japan last year was US $583 million, which accounted for 3.42% of the total import and export value of Wenzhou in the same period.

Exports to Japan amounted to 364 million US dollars, ranking third in our main trading partners. The main export commodities were shoes, electrical equipment, lighters, glasses and so on.

Importing US $219 million from Japan ranks eighth among our main trading partners. The main imports are plastic raw materials, chemical raw materials and textile machinery.

"Our products exported to Japan are mainly exported to Tokyo and Osaka, and they are nearly 1000 km away from the earthquake stricken areas such as Sendai.

Li Jianjiang, executive vice president of the Chinese Entrepreneurs Association of Japan and chairman of Zhejiang tring Light Industry Co., Ltd., told reporters that the company not only exported to Japan about $40 million of lighters and small appliances every year, but also set up a trading company in Osaka, Hong Gao, which has been contacted with Japanese business partners and has not yet been affected.
