Our institute was founded in 1985, formerly known as the Department of industrial art engineering, Tianjin College of Light Industry. In 2002, our school was renamed Tianjin University of Science and Technology, and the same year the school of art and design was founded.

In 2006, according to the overall development strategy of the school, the new area of Tianjin Binhai New Area was brought into the overall development and opening strategy of the state, and the Art Design Institute was relocated to the Taida campus of the Tianjin development zone.

The Institute has two master's degrees in design art, industrial product system design and engineering, and four undergraduate specialties in industrial design, art design, costume design and engineering, animation design, and nine undergraduate specialties.

The discipline group of art design is basically formed.

At present, the college has an independent teaching building with a total construction area of more than 12000 square meters.

Experimental centers and professional studios have been built in succession.

The experimental center has an area of more than 4000 square meters.

3360 pieces of instruments and equipment, the total value of more than 680 yuan.

The exhibition hall is more than 1000 square meters.

There are 16 practical teaching bases inside and outside school.

There are 82 teachers, including 8 professors and 16 associate professors.

Art Design (Fashion Design)

Training objective: the aim of this major is to train basic theories of artistic creation and art design, possess certain fashion design concepts, have innovative design thinking, comprehensive design ability and practical operation ability, and be able to apply advanced professional talents in clothing and costume design work in enterprises, institutions, universities and scientific research units.

Educational system: four years.

Degree: Bachelor of Arts.

Main courses: design basis, clothing design, rendering techniques, clothing structure design, clothing materials science, clothing technology, clothing CAD, clothing outline, clothing history and so on.

The prospect of employment: the garment industry is the dominant industry in China. It needs a large number of high-level talents in the field of clothing, and the prospect of employment is very broad.

Graduates can be engaged in garment design and management, clothing trade, brand design and other work. Besides, they can also be widely applied in the field of culture and art based on the professional knowledge of clothing design, and engage in other related art design work.
