Interview With Famous Teacher Of Shenzhen Home Textile Exhibition

The interview with EricHourdeaux was arranged in a quiet cafe in Oct, and he had been waiting quietly when he arrived on the road.

Eric saw me far away and greeted him warmly, which relieved his worries at the moment.

At first glance, Eric is no different from a foreign designer. A MacBook and a cup of coffee are all of him. Perhaps the only difference is that there is a box of genuine red packed "good days" on the table. This sense of violation is especially evident in later contacts.

Fast or slow creation requires slow thinking.

In Eric's works, there are not only a wide range of home design, but also a variety of toys, watches, fishing rods and other product designs, covering many fields.

And every design can be seen.

Designer

Originality and practicality are well blended together.

When asked why there is such an exuberant inspiration, the answer given by Eric is: "creation takes time to think slowly."

Today, many designers are trying to compress design time and launch new works at the fastest speed.

Because Eric thinks that blindly seeking "fast" is the plagiarism of today's design community.

Arch-criminal

He is very disgusted with the way he looks for creative inspiration by browsing online pictures.

In his view, the designer's job is to take up the pen and paper, to express the thoughts and thoughts of the individual through pictures, and more importantly, to know how to think independently, rather than everything about Google.

As a designer, Eric also knows that customer requirements are always the top priority.

He complained that some "outsider" customers demanded quick input and quick output, but did not really understand the real needs. Sometimes, in order to cater for the tastes of the general public, they even asked designers to follow suit.

"I have to ask him for another kind of customer."

Gao Ming

"Eric said helplessly.

More or, less conciseness is not equal to simplicity.

Many designers regard the architect lessismore, who is the master of architecture, to pursue the best less.

In this regard, Eric has its own unique view.

More Eric came to China. Until now, I still can not say how I feel about China.

"It's hard to decide whether to love or not.

There are so many different elements in China, such as nationality, culture, climate and so on, and here every day is "fresh". I need the stimulation of "change".

From the personal experience of life extension, Eric objected to some designers playing the banner of "lessismore" and making simple designs to fool the public.

He further states that the world can be so colorful and thriving because of all kinds of different people and different aesthetic standards.

Too simple design makes people feel monotonous, it is obliterating emotions.

Correspondingly, Eric believes that the real intention of "lessismore" is to eliminate unnecessary things and leave a small number of delicate elements, so as to create works that convey the author's true feelings and inspire the imagination of customers.

Imprisonment or free design gives me more freedom.

After more than 20 years of design, how did Eric first become a designer?

"When I was a child, I was naughty, like to study toys and homes, demolish and assemble them, and love drawing, and gradually became interested in design."

With the growth of age, Eric found himself really talented in design. After graduating from Paris national higher industrial design college, she served SNCFAPG, PHILIPPESTARCK, MARCBETHIER and NEMO. In 96, the design studio named after him was officially established.

Along the way, the biggest gain of Eric design is freedom (freedom).

Looking back on the design of the company that just gave China, Eric also used to be "acclimatized".

Once, for an interior design of a bar, Eric, who had a romantic nature, thought that he needed to build a spacious room in the interior, build a spacious garden in the open air, and provide enough room for dancing and party opening to the guests.

When this idea came out, some people suggested to him that the Chinese were relatively low-key and liked to have private space, which made Eric feel more or less embarrassed.

But then Eric insisted on making any changes to the design plan.

Finally, the fact also proves that Eric is successful. Chinese guests are not unaccustomed to this design with Western traces. Instead, they like the design of this large space.

Eric defines freedom in this way: "clearly understand your real needs, do not do unnecessary and unnecessary things, I think this is also the essence of" lessismore ".
