Wang Zhonglin, Professor of Chinese descent at Georgia Polytechnic University, and Dai Liming, a professor of Chinese Studies in the Department of chemistry and materials engineering, University of Dayton, Ohio, is taking a key step towards the development of "self powered" nano generator (Nanogenerator).

(United States World Journal) new network, November 14, according to the United States' world daily report, Wang Zhonglin, a professor of Chinese descent at the Georgia Polytechnic University in Ohio, and Dai Liming, a Chinese American professor in the Department of chemistry and materials engineering, University of Dayton, Texas, are taking a key step towards the development of "self powered" nano generator (Nanogenerator).

Cox News Agency (Cox News Service) reported on the 12 day that Zinc Oxide nanowires developed by them can generate electricity as long as they bend repeatedly. If they are further improved, they will be used as power sources for small electrical appliances.

The researchers say that such nanowires can be sealed in thin films, sewn into shoes or clothing, and can generate electricity by moving around and moving the body.

Wang Zhonglin is the principal investigator of the flexible charge pump program.

He said, "you can put such a wire in the flag of the United States, and once it is blown up, it will be able to generate electricity."

However, the new nanometers developed by them now only generate 45 micro volt (millivolt) power.

Wang Zhonglin said that by comparison, the power generated by 1 ordinary AA batteries is about 33 times that of such nanometers.

If such tiny Zinc Oxide wires are overlapped together, the future pattern will generate enough power to serve as a power supply for MP3 players like iPod, or for military detectors and radio sources.

Wang Zhonglin said he and his colleagues have been developing nanodynamo for many years.

He said that the nanowires are sealed in the membrane, which can prevent water and sweat and prevent other liquids from losing the function of the generator.

He said: "this is a great step forward."

However, if this device is to replace batteries effectively, there are still many areas to be improved.

Wang Zhonglin said, "I think it may take another 3 years."
