Q: in the era of big data, some people call "the traditional retail industry will die out". How do you view this conclusion?

A: I want to tease you about the development trend of retail industry in France and Europe.

More than 20 years ago in Europe, when the French Carrefour format rose, the hypermarket was regarded as the sunrise industry. At that time, many people thought that the convenience store format would not survive and they had no future.

And fifteen years ago, it was also in Europe, when discount stores began to rise. After their rise, many experts thought that the format of supermarkets was facing extinction.

By 2000, the Internet began to enter our life. At that time, many retailers began to take the form of electricity supplier to start business in this area.

Twenty years later, from France and Europe, the convenience store so far is the best in Europe.

The format of the supermarket has not disappeared, but it has developed faster, and the 1/3 discount shop has shifted to the convenience store mode. The entity store has its own development space. All the formats are developing. All retail formats have their unique market positioning and functions. I personally believe that any retailing format will not die out.

A: many people have always believed that innovation is as sophisticated as rocket technology.

For retail enterprises, innovation is not necessarily sophisticated but ubiquitous in daily life.

Carrefour was founded in 1963 and Carrefour entered China in 1995.

Taking Carrefour's innovation in food safety as an example, two or three years ago, Carrefour and the government and Chinese universities and colleges jointly invested in the creation of four first class laboratories, and set up ten chemical laboratories in China. These laboratories were set up to enable us to monitor the products, fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and so on.

The whole food inspection network does more than 4000 different tests every day. If the food safety problems are found once these tests are done, we can take immediate action to communicate with relevant government departments and even customers.

At the same time, in fresh products, two-dimensional code can provide good traceability information.

In this way, customers only need to scan the two-dimensional code with their mobile phones, so that they can get information about fresh products. In addition, we have been working with Chinese agricultural cooperatives to develop some high quality goods belonging to Carrefour.

In China, Carrefour launched the "agricultural super docking" project in 2007. The proportion of fresh products supplied by Chinese farmers directly accounted for 30% of the average supply of fresh produce.

We will keep innovating, and we will specializes in innovation.

All retail formats must be innovated.

Carrefour is currently promoting the two core projects of sustainable development in the field of "fresh fruits and vegetables" and "Jia You Xian".

Carrefour will improve the supply chain of agricultural products from the source.

Carrefour has also purchased excellent Chinese agricultural products in China, and French Parisians have been able to eat high-quality grapefruit in China.

Question: how does Carrefour cultivate talents?

Answer: to innovate and to rely on your team, the team must be specialized.

Training is very important. Carrefour has invested huge resources to train its employees in the past many years.

For example, since 2000, Carrefour has built Carrefour China Training Institute within its own system. The purpose of this is to enable our entire team to get a comprehensive and comprehensive training, and they can get professional quality improvement.

In 2010, Thierry Garnier was appointed director of the Executive Committee of Carrefour Group and President of international emerging market development.
