Retail Sales

According to the BBC news and financial times, according to the retail sales statistics of the National Bureau of Statistics (ONS) as of November 23rd (2019) before November 23rd (excluding black November 29th in November 29th), retail sales in November dropped by 0.6%, and the contraction for fourth consecutive months triggered concern about the economic situation of the industry.

PwC, an accounting firm, said that 2019 was a difficult year for the British retail industry. In the first half of the year, 1234 shops were closed in the top 500 shopping streets in Britain. However, Barclaycard data from Barclay Bank show that in nearly 1/3 of the credit card and financial card transactions in the country, sales increased from 7.1% to 16.5% in November 25th and December 2nd compared with the same period (2018).

Economists said that the Conservative Party won the general election and reduced the risk of no agreement to take off Europe and Britain's uncertainty over Europe.
